Mrs. Owen (Gladys) Jacklin gave the following excerpt from the Historical Library in Madison, Wisconsin:
"Henry came to the U. S. when he was about 20 years with his wife, Mary, and daughter Frances. In 1850 Henry and Mary lived in the Township of Winnebago, Winnebago County, where Henry was a laborer. He helped build Main St., in Oshkosh. At that time his real estate value was $150. Later they moved to a farm in Waushara Co., by Pearl Lake, the Indians were at the other end of the lake at that time."
His younger brother Daniel, was in Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin at the same time. It then appears they probably did immigrate at the same time.
In the 1860 census of Wisconsin Henry was living in Waushara County, Leon Township, P.O. Pine River.
Gladys added: "By 1870 his real and personal estate value was $5,000."
On November 2, 1854, Henry purchased from John Fitzgerald, for $112, the West 1/2 NE1/4, Section 30, Township 19 North, Range 12 East in Waushara County, together with the hereditaments and appurtenances. (Waushara Deeds, Book N, p.549)
On July 24, 1857 he purchased 20 acres from Henry D. Adams for $50, the West 1/2 NE 1/4 SW 1/4, Section 7, Township 19, Range 12. Waushara Deeds, Book O, p.188)
On December 2, 1864, he purchased another tract of 40 acres from Thomas Baker for $125, it being the NE1/4 NE1/4, Section 25, Township 19, Range 11N. (Waushara Deeds, Book O, p.189)
On June 8, 1866, he filed a deed of land which he and Alexander Sherlock purchased from S. R. Clark for $15 which was for the SW1/4 SW1/4 of Section 3, Township 18N, Range 12E. This consisted of forty acres. (Waushara Deed Book O, p.578.
Then, on December 1, 1870, Henry and Alexander Sherlock purchased from the government another 40 acres , the NWSW Section 29, Township 19N, Range 12E. (GLO Records)
The Burr Oak Valley Cemetery is about four miles north of Red Granite, Waushara County, Wisconsin.
