He is POSSIBLY the son of Samuel Tomlinson and Ruth Brown (married 28 Jan 1799 in Whitgift Parish, Yorkshire). John and Ann were Methodists and came to land owned by Rev. Keyte in Chariton Co., MO in the early 1830s. They seem to have come to Canada first. (Carol Williams, 6 June 2004)
