- Born: 26 Mar 1899, Brigg, Lincolnshire, England, United Kingdom 1
- Died: 29 Mar 1952 aged 53 1
Cause of his death was Tuberculosis.
User ID: P00034512.
General Notes:
George Frank Layne went by his middle name, Frank. He was a flyer in World War I, attaining the rank of lieutenant, then contracted TB. He went to a sanitarium where he met his wife, Hilda Silver, who was the widow of a man who died in the sanitarium.
Frank looked after his father's business, G. H. Layne & Co., and was apparently a brilliant businessman, although much of his work was done from bed. He not only ran his father's business but opened branches at Crowle and Market Rasen.
Frank died of TB at the age of 51. He was cremated and his ashes scattered over Brigg.
Another story of Frank and Hilda's meeting was that Hilda called Frank saying that she had a dream in which her late husband told her to take care of Frank.
The Rev. Mr. Oliver A. Beckerlegge of the Methodist Church in Brigg gives Frank's death date as March 29, 1951.
According to cousin, Mary Layne Shaw, Frank had a beautiful voice and sang in local opera productions. 1
