A letter from Lois E. Edwards, daughter of William Edward Edwards, written to Robert Young, her father's cousin in Knoxville, Knox County, Illinois, dated Thanksgiving Day November 28, 1918, tells that Lieut W. E. Edwards, Jr. is dead. He was seriously injured in an automobile accident at Camp Buster near Battle Creek, Michigan, where he was instructor on Tuesday night and died 24 hours later of injuries received. He had a fractured skull, crushed leg, and internal injuries, the last causing his death. He was referred to by the name of Ward. He had intended to stop in Galesburg and Knoxville in Knox County, Illinois, to see his relatives on his way home to Texas. His family was all torn up over the death.
