sons. His sons Edwin, age 8, and Harold, age 7, were both born in
Washington.

noted by reference, was provided by Velta Miers Kunkel. Velta is
Joseph's daughter. Velta thought: Either Carl or Edwin/Edwina had the

was a citizenship column containing the letters Pa. People working at
the archives thought that meant Papers Applied. But Edwin was born in
Washington. No code with these letters was in the book listing
directions for reading the 1920 census.
