He and his wife produced 4 children. They were: Ann, Alice, Nathaniel, and Paul. Paul became a doctor and started a strong lineage of his own.
From: The Origin of the Carrington Family of Virginia, by James C. Brandow, The National Genealogical Society Quarterly - Vol. 70, Number 1, March 1982, pages 246-270: For more than a century, historians, genealogists, and descendants have searched in vain for the origin of the Carrington family of Virginia. Where the ancestors of Colonel George Carrington (1711-1785) of Boston Hill, Cumberland County, who emigrated to Virginia in 1723, came from originally has remained a mystery up to the present. there never was any doubt the emigrant was born in Barbados, the son of Dr. Paul and Hennigham (Cordrington) Carrington of St. Philip's Parish, but beyond that the record was blank. Hopefully this article will shed light on the question, spark fresh interest in research, and lead to further information............... Paul (1) Carrington, the first proven progenitor of Barbados Carrington family died March 1665/66 in St. Thomas Parish, Barbados. Little is known of him, but all available evidence in Barbadoes indicates he was a small sugar planter. he emigrated to Barbados from Ireland about 1650 and probably was the son or grandson of Nathaniel Carrington, an English farmer who settled in Londonderry in 1615. **(Nathaniel Carrington, an English tenant farmer, leased in 1615 two balliboes, Tawnymore (Tammeymore) and Cah, which were part of Lizard Plantation, that portion of Londonderry, Ireland, set aside for settlement by the Ironmongers' Guild of London, Ironmongers' Papers, guildhall Library, London, MS. 17, 278/1, f. 108a.)...................... On 4 April 1654 the Council of Barbados ordered Paul Carrington to submit himself to the decision of a court concerning a debt of 1,500 pounds of sugar. He had petitioned the Govenor and Council to overrule the court but they found ' that Paul carrington hath unhandsomely brought them hither, & hath misapplied himself in this respect, with out just cause of complaint."(Lucas Manuscripts, Minutes of Council, 1:21, Barbados Public Library, Bridgetown) His wife Sarah (Houghton/Haughton/Hawton?) may have been the daughter of Rowland, Houghton who owned property in Barbados but died in Jamaica in 1662. Rowland Houghton's will dated 3 February 1661/62 and probated 10 April 1662 in Barbados mentions a son Robert, and a daughter, Mary, but not Sarah. (RB6/15/183) The will of the progenitor names his brother-in-law, Robert Haughton, and a generation later, Dr. Paul (2) Carrington, son of of the progenitor, was a witness to the will of Rowland Hawton (Haughton), mariner, of St. Michael's Parish dated 11 July 1691 and probated 30 August 1691. (RB6/10/492)...................... The will of Paul Carrington, dated 4 March 1665/66 and probated 20 March 1665/66, requests a decent burial in St. Thomas Parish churchyard. His wife Sarah, was to receive one-third of all goods, lands, and chattels in consideration of her dower. His Four children, Nathaniel, Ann, Paul (2), and Alice, were to receive the remainder of the estate, which was to be divided equally between them. His brother, Will Carrington, was to receive 2,000 pounds of Muscovado sugar in order to send him home to Ireland to his friends, or as his overseers should think fit. His wife was executrix, and the overseers were his brother-in-law, Robert Haughton, and friends, James Ruck and Edward Wright.(RB6/15/111. William Carrington was a witness to a St. Thomas deed dated 23 Apr. 1665. RB3/7/373) Children of Paul and Sarah (Houghton/Haughton/Hawton?) Carrington: 1 i. Nathaniel(2) Carrington, according to the Barbados militia rolls of 1679/80, served as a private in Captain Allamby's company of foot soldiers.............His will dated 10 Oct. 1693 and probated 26 Feb. 1693/94, states his occupation was mason and mentions an unnamed wife, an expected child, a son named William, and his brother Paul. (RB6/2/85) Like his father, Nathaniel resided in St. Thomas Par., and for generations his descendants lived in that parish................ 2 ii. Ann Carrington, m. 27 Aug. 1671 Nicholas Newton in St. Michael's Par. According to the Census of 1679/80. Ann Newton owned 21 acres and 11 slaves in St. Philip's Par. The will of Ann Newton, widow, dated 1 Nov. 1701 and probated 29 Sept. 1702, does not mention any member of the Carrington family. (RB6/37/504) +3 iii. Dr. Paul Carrington, b. ca. 1665 in Barbados. 4 iv. Alice Carrington, mentioned in her father's will. ******CONTINUED UNDER +3. DR. PAUL (2) CARRINGTON******
