General Notes: Margaret Cabell [3450.4.2.2.2.3] (24 Nov 1785 — 3 Apr 1863) married Thomas Stanhope McClelland (4 Feb 1777 — 30 Aug 1835). McClelland was born near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas McClelland {McCleland, McLelan, etc.} and his wife, Mary —, who was perhaps a Stanhope. The younger McClelland was admitted to the Virginia bar in 1799 and was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates (1802 — 03). He and his wife died and were buried at his seat “Montezuma.” They were the parents of fourteen children. Thomas Stanhope McClelland was in the Virginia General Assembly Their most prominent grandchild was William Wirt Henry, the son of the McClelland’s eldest child Elivra Henry McClelland and her husband, John Henry, youngest son of Patrick Henry. William Wirt Henry was educated at the University of Virginia and admitted to the bar in 1853. Henry was commonwealth attorney for Charlotte County before moving to Richmond. He represented Richmond in the House of Delegates (1877 — 79) and Senate (1879 — 80). An author of historical papers, Henry was president of the American Historical Society and the Virginia Historical Society. Margaret married Thomas Stanhope McCLELLAND.
