Thompson Brown. Together they had a son and raised his five other children. Col. Venable made considerable contributions to the University community and has been honored with the University dormitory, Venable Hall, named for him. He was elected professor emeritus in 1896. He died August 11, 1900 and was buried in the University Cemetery. Mary married Charles Scott VENABLE, son of Nathaniel E. VENABLE and Mary Embry SCOTT, in 1876. (Charles Scott VENABLE was born on 19 Apr 1827 in Prince Edward, Virginia, USA, "Longwood", died on 11 Aug 1900 in Cascade, Pittsylvania, Virginia, USA and was buried in University Of VA Cemetery.) Mary next married James William MILLER, son of James Adair MILLER and Isabella Graham PAINTER, on 7 Apr 1904. (James William MILLER was born on 20 Jun 1867.) |
