In 1901, George and Edith were living at 15 Crown View, Crofton, W. Yorkshire, England. The census lists George's profession as joiner and wheelwright.
Fiche Set 1866-1921 Baptisms, Winterton, Index 168, gives George's baptismal date as January 3, 1886. Guness was given as his parents' abode, and his father was listed as a bricklayer.
George enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1914. His address at the time was 564 Bannerman Avenue, Winnipeg (Robin Preston).
From The Bray Family by Ernest Raymond Collins: George Matthew Bray left England on June 13, 1905; his wife and four children followed him on April 26, 1906. He joined the Canadian Army and left for World War II on August 23, 1914, returning home in March 1918. He and his sons went to California in October 1923 with his wife and daughter Edith following in May 1924. George and Edith celebrated their 50th anniversary in South Gate, California, in June 1946.
