Joseph Wood ----------- Pioneer Resident of Burr Oak Dies of Paralysis. ----------- Joseph Wood was born in England May 14, 1811. He was married to a lady of his native land in early manhood. To this union four children were born, two of whom died in England. The death of Mrs. Wood occurred a short time later, after which Mr. Wood came to this country.
Mr Wood finally came to Constantine where he met Mrs. John Johnson, whom he married in 1852. They settled on the farm south of Burr Oak, where they have since resided.
The deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis last Saturday, Nov. 12, which was the immediate cause of his death which occurred Monday evening, Nov. 14, 1898.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Collins of Wisconsin.
The deceased, who was indeed a pioneer citizen, was a man universally respected for his many good qualities. The Masonic fraternity, of which he was for many years a member, took charge of the funeral services. The service at the residence south of the village was held at 10 a.m. yesterday--Wednesday--Rev. R. W. Paul officiating, and the remains were laid at rest in the Burr Oak village cemetery. ------ The relatives and friends desire to thank all those who so kindly assisted during the illness and death of Mr. Wood.
